Albert I of Harthausen
Albert I von Harthausen , also Adalbert († November 11, 1184 ) was the 23rd Bishop of Freising from 1158 to 1184 .
Albert probably came from the Freising ministerial family von Harthausen and was cathedral dean and provost in Freising. As bishop, Albert was able to suppress the influence of the Wittelsbachers as bailiffs of the Freising Church by restricting their rights in 1164. He skilfully led his diocese through the conflict between Emperor Friedrich Barbarossa and the Pope .
From 1159 under Bishop Albert the new building of the Freising Cathedral, which burned down on April 5, 1159, was built to this day . In 1160 a brewery was first mentioned in a document on the Domberg.
