Gerold von Waldeck , also Gerold von Reichersdorf († March 29, 1231 ) was the 25th Bishop of Freising from 1184 to 1220 .

Bishop Gerold came from the Freising ministerial family Waldeck , who also called themselves von Parsberg , Miesbach or Reichersdorf after their seats . Before being elected bishop, he was canon of Freising. At the beginning of his pontificate, Emperor Friedrich II transferred important royal rights to the ecclesiastical princes of the empire . During his reign in 1224 the city of Freising burned down by arson. He wanted to leave the city of Freising to the Wittelsbach family as a fiefdom in 1230 due to financial difficulties mainly caused by himself , but this was done by Pope Gregory IX. was prevented. Gerold himself was deposed and excommunicated. He died a short time later.
