Anastassija Sergejewna Romanowa ( Russian Анастасия Сергеевна Романова ; Anastasia Romanova at the FIS based on an English transcription ; born October 11, 1993 in Kirovsk , Murmansk Oblast ) is a Russian ski racer . She starts in several disciplines, with her strengths being in the giant slalom .
biography
At the age of 15, Romanova competed in her first FIS races in Russia . In January 2011 she made her European Cup debut on the downhill from Zauchensee , but since then she has rarely started in this discipline. She achieved her best result so far in February 2016 with seventh place in the giant slalom in Borovets . In February 2011 she took part in a Junior World Championship for the first time in Crans-Montana and, with two failures in four starts , she finished 29th and 33rd in Super-G and Downhill. In three other JWM participations ( Roccaraso 2012 , Québec 2013 , Jasná 2014 ) she could not exceed these results.
On October 27, 2012, Romanowa made her World Cup debut in the giant slalom in Sölden . In the same season she started in Schladming for the first time in a world championship and classified 42nd in the giant slalom. At the end of the 2013/14 season, she was named Russian champion in this discipline in Polyarnyje Sori . The following winter she finished 33rd in the giant slalom at the World Championships in Vail / Beaver Creek and celebrated her first victory in the Far East Cup in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk . After sporadic World Cup appearances, she won her first points on January 30, 2016 in the giant slalom in Maribor with 24th place. She finished the season in 49th place in the discipline ranking. It wasn't until two years later that she won World Cup points for the second time as 28th in Ofterschwang .
