Mauricio Victorino , full name Mauricio Bernardo Victorino Dansilio , (born October 11, 1982 in Montevideo ) is a Uruguayan football player .

Career

society

Mauricio Victorino is the nephew of the former national player Waldemar Victorino . He started playing football at club level in baby fútbol at Progreso . At that time he was still used in the goalkeeping position. With the Montevideans he was then also active in the youth teams. There he skipped the Septima División , as the club at the time only entertained teams from the Sexta División . In this team he played, trained by "Pepe" Peluffo, in the position of Libero together with Carlos Canobbio, among others . Two years followed in Progreso's team at the Quinta División . When he was already participating in training in the Cuarta División , he moved to Nacional Montevideo . At the Bolsos he only trained for half a year due to problems with his eligibility to play. He finally made his debut in the Cuarta División in 2000 . At the beginning of his professional career he played for Plaza Colonia in 2004 (16 games, three goals) and from 2005 to mid-2006 for Nacional Montevideo (49 games, one goal). This was followed by a station in Mexico at CD Veracruz (mid-2006 to mid-2007). There he played 28 games and scored three goals. He then played again on loan for Nacional. The contract with Veracruz ran until May 31, 2009. In the second phase with the Bolsos , he is said to have met eight times in 45 missions. In August 2009 he joined CF Universidad de Chile . The Chileans have recorded 37 league games and five goals for Victorino. In 2009 and 2011 he became the team of Chilean champions. In February 2011, Victorino moved for a transfer fee of 2 million US dollars for 100% of transfer rights to Cruzeiro . There he completed 43 league appearances (24 in Serie A , 19 in Mineiro 1) and scored two goals each. He also played eight times in the Copa Libertadores and three times in the Copa do Brasil . After he barely got a chance in 2013 due to injuries at Cruzeiro, where, according to press reports, he received a monthly salary of 80,000 US dollars, he switched to Palmeiras São Paulo for a year on loan in early January 2014 within Brazil . His contract with Cruzeiro also ended after this loan expired. For Palmeiras, he played seven games (no goal) in Serie A. He then continued his career from mid-February 2015 at CA Independiente in Argentina . There he played in ten league games (one goal) and two games (no goal) of the Copa Argentina. His contract with the Argentines ran until December 31, 2015. In January 2016, he moved again to Nacional Montevideo. For the Montevideans, he played ten first division games (no goal) and eight games (one goal) in the 2016 Copa Libertadores in the 2016 Clausura . In the 2016 season he played 14 times (no goal) in the league and won the national championship with the team. After that, his career path led to Paraguay in January 2017 , where he joined the Club Cerro Porteño .

National team

Victorino made his debut on September 27, 2006 in the friendly against Venezuela under coach Óscar Tabárez with a starting eleven in the Uruguayan national team . He was appointed to the Uruguayan squad for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa . During the tournament he was used in five games. In 2011 he won the Copa America with Uruguay . He made 21 appearances for his home country, but did not score a goal. His last appearance for Celeste was on October 16, 2012, when he was on the pitch in the World Cup qualifier against Bolivia. (As of August 22, 2013)

After several other current national players were absent due to injuries, he was reassigned to the national team after almost four years of absence for the World Cup qualifiers against Brazil and Peru at the end of March 2016.
