Deumar Tendzin Phüntshog ( tib . De'u dmar bstan 'dzin phun tshogs also Dilmar geshe Tendzin Phüntshog ( Dil dmar dge bshes brtan' dzin phun tshogs ); * 1673 in a circle Gonjo (Gojo) in Qamdo (Chamdo) in Kham (eastern Tibet ); † 1743 ) was a famous pharmacologist and doctor of Tibetan medicine in the 18th century. He lived in Weixi (North Yunnan ).

He was a scholar from the Drugpa Kagyu ( 'brug pa bka' brgyud ) school, one of the so-called "eight smaller schools" of the Kagyu school of Tibetan Buddhism ( Vajrayana ).

He is the author of one of the most important works on the materia medica of traditional Tibetan medicine and pharmacology .

He is considered to be the descendant of (Chin.) Biji 比 吉 , one of the nine famous Tibetan doctors of ancient times . He is the author of forty-two books on medical issues, including the Materia Medica crystal beads ( shel gong shel phreng ; Ch . Jingzhu bencao 晶 珠 本草 ), a monumental work on the materia medica of traditional Tibetan medicine .

Shel gong shel phreng

The Crystal Beads Materia Medica ( shel gong shel phreng ) work contains a total of 2,294 pharmaceuticals, divided into 1,176 classes. For all plants and other materia medica, the book provides comprehensive and detailed information on their characteristics, alternative names, properties, taste, place of origin, growing environment as well as effectiveness and use. The work was published in two woodblock prints in Lhasa and Dêgê . This reference work, which is important for the study of Tibetan pharmacology, first appeared in 1840, and it saw many other editions. A Chinese translation was published in 1986 by Shanghai keji chubanshe publishing house.
