Carl Irminger
Carl Ludvig Christian Irminger (born April 3, 1802 in Wewelsfleth , † February 7, 1888 in Copenhagen ) was a Danish naval officer and Minister of the Navy .
Life
Origin and family
Carl Irminger's father Otto Friderich Irminger (1749–1828) was an officer, most recently a lieutenant colonel, and customs administrator in Glückstadt . His mother was his wife Maria Amalie Irminger, nee. Mechlenburg (1763-1847). His brother Otto was also a naval officer, as was Carl's son Johan Heinrich Georg , who was also appointed chamberlain.
Irminger married Henriette Georgine Viborg (1814–1865), daughter of the Council of State and director of the veterinary school, Erik Viborg (1759–1822) and his wife Anne CA Viborg, born on June 8, 1833 in Copenhagen. Nielsen (1778-1852).
Military career
1813 Irminger Kadett , 1822 second lieutenant , 1830 First Lieutenant 1840 Lieutenant 1848 Captain 1855 Kommandørkaptajn (about Commander ) and 1865 Rear Admiral. In 1872 he took his leave and in 1880 received the character of a vice admiral .
Political career
On August 10, 1850, Irminger replaced Christian Christopher Zahrtmann as Minister of the Navy in the Moltke II cabinet . In turn, he was replaced by Carl van Dockum on November 25, 1850.
Awards and memberships
In 1831 Irminger was made a knight of the Order of Dannebrog , in 1840 he received the Dannebrogordenens Hæderstegn , in 1850 he was appointed commander and in 1866 he received the Grand Cross. In 1832 he was appointed chamberlain and in 1849 chamberlain and royal hunting captain. In addition, Irminger was a co-founder of the Kongelige Danske Geografiske Selskab and a corresponding member of the Royal Geographical Society
