Hans Herman Steffen Grove (born December 27, 1814 in Copenhagen , † August 17, 1866 in Montreux ) was a Danish naval officer and Minister of the Navy .

Life

Grove's father was the naval officer, most recently the captain, Johan Christian Grove (1789–1834), his mother was his wife Wenniche, née Garmanri (1792–1849). On December 31, 1851, Hans Herman Grove married Maren Kirstine Johnsen (1834–1864) in Copenhagen. She was the daughter of the merchant and vice-consul Peter Johnsen (1786-1850) and his wife Maren Kirstine, née Sonne (1801-1882).

1826 Grove Kadett 1833 second lieutenant 1841 Premier Lt. 1851 Kapitänleutnant 1861 orlogskaptajn (about Commander ). From November 6, 1865 to August 17, 1866 he was Minister of the Navy in the Frijs cabinet ; he was replaced by Carl van Dockum .

Awards

In 1848 Grove was made a Knight of the Order of Dannebrog , in 1862 to Dannebrogsmand , in 1864 to Commander 2nd Degree, 1866 Commander 1st Degree.
