Svend Auken
Svend Gunnarsen Auken (born May 24, 1943 in Aarhus , † August 4, 2009 in Copenhagen ) was a Danish social democratic politician . was a son of the married couple Gunnar and Kirsten Auken as well as brother of Jens Auken , Margrete Auken , Gunvor Auken and the twin sisters Ingegerd and Charlotte from the second marriage of his father.
Life
He studied political science and had been a member of the Danish parliament since 1971 . Auken was chairman of the Social Democratic Party from 1987 to 1992 and Danish Minister of Labor from October 1, 1977 to September 10, 1982, Minister of the Environment from January 25, 1993 to September 27, 1994 and then Minister of Environment and Energy until November 27, 2001. Auken died of prostate cancer .
