Thomas Kläsener (born August 14, 1976 in Gelsenkirchen ) is a former German soccer player .

Career

Kläsener's career began in 1984 as a youth at VfL Resse 08 . Via Erler SV 08 , where he played between 1990 and 1996, his path led to the second team of FC Schalke 04 , for which he was active with interruptions for the following ten years. Kläsener was also part of the extended roster of the professional team at times. In the 2000/01 season he played for SG Wattenscheid 09 . In 2003 Jupp Heynckes brought him into the professional squad of FC Schalke 04. In summer 2006 he moved to Rot-Weiss Essen , in 2007/08 he played for SC Paderborn 07 . There he was vice-captain of the team. After SC Paderborn 07's relegation from the 2nd Bundesliga in May 2008, Thomas Kläsener signed a one-year contract with the second division club FC Augsburg .

For the 2009/10 season he moved to RB Leipzig , where he celebrated promotion to the Regionalliga Nord in the first year . His contract ended on June 30, 2011 and was not renewed. Kläsener then joined SSV Markranstädt , with whom he rose in the 2011/12 season as a master of the Landesliga Sachsen in the Oberliga Nordost . He ended his career in the summer of 2013.

He played a total of 32 games (1 goal) in the Bundesliga and 63 games (2 goals) in the 2nd Bundesliga.
