Christine Koschel

Christine Koschel (born May 19, 1936 in Breslau ) is a German writer and translator.

Life

After fleeing Silesia in 1944, Christine Koschel attended a boarding school. From 1955 to 1964 she worked in Munich as an assistant director at the theater as well as for film and television productions. Since 1965 she has lived in Rome as a freelance writer and translator. After she had never received a permanent employment contract as a long-time employee of the German-speaking service of Vatican Radio , in 1984 she led the first labor court case in the history of the Vatican together with Ingrid Elisabeth Bennig and Inge von Weidenbaum .

Christine Koschel has been publishing poems and translating literary texts from English and Italian since the early 1960s. In 1963 she read in Saulgau at the meeting of Group 47 . After she had published Ingeborg Bachmann 's works together with Inge von Weidenbaum and Clemens Münster in 1978, Koschel and Weidenbaum edited Bachmann's literary estate from 1979 to 1981 at the Austrian National Library in Vienna.

Christine Koschel is a member of the PEN Center for German-Speaking Authors Abroad .
