Inge von Weidenbaum
Inge von Weidenbaum (born March 5, 1934 in Košice ( Czechoslovakia )) is a German editor , Germanist and translator .
Life
Inge from willow tree whose family was expelled from Czechoslovakia in 1945, grew up in Munich , where she also studied the economics graduated and German. From 1963 she worked as an editor and editor for various German publishers .
She has lived in Rome since 1965 , where she was among Ingeborg Bachmann's circle of friends . From 1969 to 1981 she worked as a translator and speaker for the German-language service of Radio Vatican . Since she had never received a permanent employment contract, she led the first labor court case in the history of the Vatican together with Ingrid Elisabeth Bennig and Christine Koschel . From 1983 to 1989 she taught German literature at the Università degli Studi "Gabriele d'Annunzio" in Chieti and from 1997 to 2000 at the Università degli Studi di Cassino .
Inge von Weidenbaum was one of the editors of Ingeborg Bachmann's editions in 1978; Together with Christine Koschel, Weidenbaum organized Bachmann's estate from 1979 to 1981 in the Austrian National Library in Vienna . Weidenbaum also translates literary texts from English and Italian .
Inge von Weidenbaum is a member of the PEN Center for German-Speaking Authors Abroad . Between 1983 and 1987 she and Christine Koschel received the Hieronymusring , donated by the Association of German-Language Translators of Literary and Scientific Works, VdÜ . They passed this challenge on to Ilma Rakusa .
