Odense Kommune is a Danish municipality on the island of Funen in the Syddanmark region . It extends over an area of 305.60 km² and has 204,895 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020). The seat of the administration is in Odense .
history
Odense Municipality was formed as part of the administrative reform of 1970 and was retained in full during the new administrative reform of 2007. The municipality moved from the dissolved Fyns Amt to the new region of Syddanmark . The municipality was created through the merger of the city of Odense with the rural municipalities of Allerup-Davinde , Allese-Næsbyhoved , Broby , Brændekilde , Bellinge , Dalum , Fraugde , Korup-Ubberud , Lumby , Paarup , Sanderum , Stenløse-Fangel , Fjordager (which was only merged in 1966 the rural communities of Agedrup and Seden-Åsum ) and the parish of Højby .
