Tranekær Kommune was until December 2006 a Danish municipality on the island of Langeland in what was then Fyns Amt . Since January 2007 it has been part of the newly formed Langeland Municipality , together with the municipalities of Rudkøbing and Sydlangeland , which encompasses the entire island of Langeland.

Tranekær Municipality was created as part of the administrative reform of 1970 and comprised the following Sogn :

• Tranekær Sogn and Tullebølle Sogn (rural municipality Tranekær-Tullebolle )
• Bøstrup Sogn (rural municipality Bøstrup)
• Snøde Sogn , Stoense Sogn and Hov Sogn (rural municipality Snøde-Stoense-Hov )

The dolmen and hills of Pæregård are southwest of Tranekær.
