Tranekær Sogn is a parish municipality ( Danish : Sogn ) on the island of Langeland in the Great Belt in southern Denmark . Until 1970 she belonged to Harde Langelands Nørre Herred in what was then Svendborg Amt , then to Tranekær Municipality in Fyns Amt , which was merged into Langeland Municipality in the Syddanmark region as part of the municipal reform on January 1, 2007 .

191 inhabitants live in the parish (as of January 1, 2020). The church "Tranekær Kirke" and the castle are located in the parish.

Neighboring communities are Bøstrup Sogn in the north and Tullebølle Sogn in the south .

Tranekær was from 1200 to 1645 a fief of the Danish crown, with which 1241-1375 the dukes of Schleswig were enfeoffed, from 1524 the Reichsmarschall Otte Krumpen, 1618-1621 the Norwegian governor Enevold Kruse , from 1645 the Schleswig-Holstein governor Count Christian to Rantzau . The owner from 1663 was his son-in-law, the governor and Danish chancellor Count Friedrich von Ahlefeldt and since then his descendants, the Counts of Ahlefeldt- Laurvig, until today . The writer Elisa von Ahlefeldt was born in Tranekær in 1788.
