Church District (Denmark)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Kirkedistrikt ( Danish , German church district ) was called the part of a Danish parish (Danish Sogn ) that had an additional church and elected its own parish council.

In 2010 there were 93 church districts with 2,123 Danish Sognen nationwide. On January 1, 2011, they were abolished. 71 were raised to fully valid Sogns, the rest reintegrated into the local Sogn.

The status as a parish was also granted temporarily in order to prepare the detachment of an area from its parish.
