Bernhard Engelbert Joseph Danckelmann (born April 5, 1831 in the forester's house Obereimer near Arnsberg , † January 19, 1901 in Eberswalde ) was a German forest official and forest scientist . From 1866 he was head of the Eberswalde Forest Academy .

Danckelmann was the son of the chief forester Bernhard Danckelmann. He completed higher education in Paderborn and studied forestry at the Eberswalde Higher Forestry School . He then worked as a forester for a few years. From 1855 he studied law and political science in Berlin . Then he worked again for some time in the external forest service and in 1862 became chief forester in Hambach near Jülich. Two years later he was a forest inspector in Potsdam .

In 1866 Danckelmann was appointed director of the higher forestry school in Eberswalde. During the years of its activity, the institution has been greatly reformed. Among other things, Danckelmann set up the forestry experimental system in Prussia and founded the scientific central office, later the main station for the forestry experimental system, in Eberswalde. In addition, Danckelmann was involved in founding the Association of Forest Research Stations in Germany.

From 1869 he was editor of the magazine for forest and hunting and the yearbook of the Prussian forest and hunting legislation and administration . From 1879 he was a member of the Prussian State Economics College. Danckelmann was a co-founder and temporarily chairman of the German Forest Association founded in 1899 .

Danckelmann was the author of numerous forest science and legal works. As an expert in hunting and forest law, he was a member of the second commission for the drafting of the civil code and an expert for the Reichstag from 1890 onwards . He also worked as an expert on forest legislation.

In 1900 he was made an honorary citizen of Eberswalde.
