Dominique Rouits

Dominique Rouits (born April 5, 1949 in Le Mans ) is a French conductor and music teacher.

The trained mathematician turned entirely to music with the encouragement of Yehudi Menuhin and graduated from the École Normale de Musique de Paris in 1977 as a conductor in the class of Pierre Dervaux . He then worked for Marc Soustrot at the Orchester national des Pays de la Loire . In 1981 he succeeded Dervaux as a teacher at the École Normale de Musique.

He worked with Jean-Claude Casadesus at the Orchester National de Lille and Pierre Boulez at the Ensemble intercontemporain and taught at the Conservatoire de Paris from 1988 to 1993 . For ten years he gave master classes for orchestral conducting at the Bartok Festival in Hungary with György Kurtág , Péter Eötvös and György Ligeti .

Since 1989 Rouits has directed the Orchester de Massy, which he founded . He also performed as a conductor a. a. in Bulgaria, Hungary, Latvia, England, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Mexico, Egypt, Canada and Korea.
