Career

Ida Lien made her international competitive debut at the 2017 Biathlon Junior European Championships in Nové Město na Moravě, Czech Republic . She contested her next international races two years later at the 2019 European Biathlon Championships in Minsk , where she was able to achieve two top 10 placements in the sprint and pursuit races with a ninth and seventh place. For the remainder of the 2018/19 season she ran in the IBU Cup , at the sprint in Otepää she achieved a top 10 placement with a seventh place. In the following season , Lien started in the IBU Cup from the start, after two further top 10 placements in the sprint races in Sjusjøen and Brezno - Osrblie she reached in the mixed relay race in Brezno-Orsblie together with Sindre Pettersen , Håvard Bogetveit and Emilie Ågheim Kalkenberg third place and thus her first podium finish in the IBU Cup. Lien handed over to Kalkenberg as the third of the team in the lead, but with a penalty in the last stage they missed the chance for a better placement. After three ninth places in a row, she won the mass start 60 in Martell in South Tyrol . At the 2020 European Biathlon Championships in Minsk, she won the bronze medal in the mixed relay together with Åsne Skrede , Sivert Guttorm Bakken and Aleksander Fjeld Andersen . After an error-free shooting, she won silver in the sprint behind the much more powerful Elisabeth Högberg from Sweden , in the final pursuit of the European Championships she was tenth. On March 5, 2020, she contested her first World Cup race in Nové Město na Moravě. In the sprint, with four shooting errors and a total deficit of over three minutes, she clearly missed both the points and the qualification for the pursuit race. On March 7th, 2020 she replaced the sick world champions Synnøve Solemdal and Marte Olsbu Røiseland in the relay race, which she won together with Karoline Offigstad Knotten , Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold and Tiril Eckhoff . Thanks to the sixth fastest time and good shooting, Lien was able to make up a position and handed over to Tandrevold in sixth.
