Elisabeth Högberg grew up in Jädraås near Ockelbo and now lives in Östersund . She starts for the club I 21 IF Sollefteå . She has been running biathlon since 2001. In 2005 in Kontiolahti and 2007 in Martell , she started at the Junior World Championships. Her best result here in 2007 was a 21st place in the pursuit. Things went better with the season, with which she was fifth in Kontiolahti and sixth in Martell. Högberg has been competing in the Biathlon World Cup since the 2007/08 season . At the start of the season in Kontiolahti, she finished in three races between 42 and 45. On her first appearance in the relay, Högberg in Hochfilzen with her compatriots Anna Carin Olofsson , Anna Maria Nilsson and Helena Jonsson , thanks to her good leadership as a starting runner, was able to finish third without shooting errors Reach place. Her best result was 77th place in the individual. With the relay she finished 5th.
In the following years stagnation and further development alternated. Högberg achieved her best result so far and first top ten placement in 2014 with ninth place in the Östersund singles.
Awards
In May 2020 Elisabeth Högberg was awarded “Årets Prestation” by the Swedish Biathlon Association, which is awarded once a year. The association honored Högberg's best season of her career and the fact that she has so much motivation and discipline to prepare for the competition winter on her own every year. She is also a great role model for her younger teammates with her behavior, both on the way to the venues and during the competitions.
