Sivert Guttorm Bakken comes from Lillehammer and starts for the local sports club Vingrom IL . He contested his first international biathlon race at the 2016 Winter Youth Olympic Games , where he won two gold and one silver medal. In the following two years he took part in the Biathlon Junior World Championships. In 2017 in Brezno - Osrblie he won bronze in the sprint and gold with the relay, in 2018 in Otepää he won silver with the Norwegian relay. In the winter of 2018/19 he made his debut in the IBU Cup , after a few top 10 placements, he achieved his first podium finish in the sprint in Ridnaun with a third place. His first victory in the IBU Cup followed shortly afterwards in the sprint in Obertilliach . This winter he took part in title fights again, at the 2019 Biathlon Junior World Championships in Brezno-Osrblie he won bronze in the sprint and in the pursuit, at the 2019 Biathlon Junior European Championships in Sjusjøen he won gold in the sprint and silver in the pursuit and relay races . After a second place in the 2019/20 season of the IBU Cup, he won bronze in the pursuit race and in the mixed relay at the 2020 European Biathlon Championships in Minsk . At the last IBU Cup of the winter, which also took place in Minsk, he won all three competitions.
