Felice Placido Borel (II) (born April 5, 1914 in Nice , † January 21, 1993 in Turin ) was an Italian football player and coach .
Borel, main position center forward , was also known as Farfallino . Since he was the younger brother of Aldo Giuseppe Borel , he was also known as Borel (II) .
Career
Felice Borel made his debut for Juventus Turin at the age of eighteen and immediately showed his great talent. In his first season in Serie A ( 1932/33 ) he scored 29 goals in 28 games and was thus top scorer . In the following season he was able to repeat this success by scoring 32 goals in 34 games. On October 22, 1933, the national coach Vittorio Pozzo appointed him to the Squadra Azzurra . In his debut, Borel II was allowed to wear Angelo Schiavio's number 9 and scored the winning goal against Hungary .
Borel also included in the 1934 FIFA World Cup to the squad of Italy . However, he was only left with the extra role behind the great Schiavio and he only played in the replay of the quarter-finals against Spain , but the striker with the Squadra Azzurra trained by Vittorio Pozzo was able to celebrate winning the world title and thus the greatest success of his career .
After winning the world title and winning the title again with Juventus Turin (for the third time in a row), Borel seemed to mature into one of the best Italian center-forwards in history, but as a result his star began to decline. In the second half of the 1930s he was used less and less by the Bianconeri and hardly scored any goals. For the 1941/42 season Borel II moved to city rivals AC Turin . In 1944 he returned to his home club Juventus and competed in the war championship. For the 1946/47 season Borel moved to Alessandria , before he ended his career with AC Napoli in Serie B at the end of the 1948/49 season. Felice Borel had acted as player- coach at both clubs .
In the season 1958/59 Felice Borel worked together with Carmelo Di Bella as a coach of Calcio Catania . He was able to achieve a total of 138 goals in Serie A and is still one of the youngest top scorer in the history of the top Italian division.
