For more than ten years he was one of the main pillars in the defensive midfield of the Nerazzurri . In the first Serie A season in history, 1929/30 , Castellazzi was able to celebrate his only Italian championship as a player. In 1933 he stood with Inter in the final of the Mitropa Cup, the predecessor of today's European Cup, which was lost to FK Austria Wien .

After 13 years, a total of 261 games and 16 goals in inter-dress, Armando Castellazzi ended his playing career in the summer of 1936 and moved to the Nerazzurri coaching bench . The 1936/37 season was completed under his leadership on a disappointing seventh place in the table. In 1937/38 the team won the fourth championship title in the club's history , mainly thanks to an outstanding Giuseppe Meazza . Castellazzi became the first ever to win the Scudetto both as a player and as a coach.
