Italy, despite hosting, had to qualify in Group 3 . After a 4-0 win in the first leg against Greece on March 25, 1934 , they withdrew their application for a cash payment worth 300,000 euros today, so that the Italians could concentrate on their preparation after the clear victory and not on the second leg to Greece had to travel.
