Spain Second RepublicSecond Spanish Republic Spain - Brazil 1889Brazil Brazil 3: 1 (3: 0)

Brazil were surprisingly eliminated against Spain . Although they were clearly superior and technically dominated the opponents, they failed to score as the Spanish goalkeeper legend Ricardo Zamora was able to parry all chances. After the Spaniards had converted a penalty and Isidro Lángara had scored a brace in a short time, they were already leading 3-0 after half an hour. It was only in the second half, when the Spaniards concentrated only on defense, that Leônidas scored the only goal for Brazil in the 55th minute. Five minutes later they were also awarded a penalty, which Waldemar de Brito missed. Brazil was eliminated for the second time in the first round after 1930 .
