This article covers the England national team at the 1966 World Cup .

England became world champions for the first time by beating Germany 4-2 in the final . Because of the so-called Wembley goal to make it 3-2, this game is one of the most discussed football games.

qualification

As hosts of the 1966 World Cup, the English team did not have to qualify for the finals.
