Giuseppe Cavanna (born September 19, 1905 in Vercelli , Italy ; † November 3, 1976 ibid) was an Italian football goalkeeper and football coach .

Although he never played an A international match for Italy , he was able to celebrate winning the World Cup in 1934 with the Squadra Azzurra . Cavanna was an uncle of Silvio Piola , the most successful goalscorer in Serie A history with 274 goals to date .

Career

Giuseppe Cavanna came from the youth division of Pro Vercelli , for which he made his debut in the Italian championship in 1925. From 1929 to 1936 he played for the SSC Napoli and was able to achieve third place in Serie A with the team in 1932/33 and 1933/34 . After a stopover at Benevento Calcio in Serie C , Cavanna returned to Pro Vercelli in 1937, where he ended his active career in 1939.

After six B-internationals in 1931 Giuseppe Cavanna was 1934 coach Vittorio Pozzo as a substitute goalkeeper in the squad of Italians nominated for the World Cup at home and was so even though he never had a senior international for Italy denied football World Cup .
