Videoton is a Hungarian private company, a contract manufacturer , offering Electronic Manufacturing Services (EMS). Based on the current MMI ranking, it is in the top 30 worldwide and in the top 5 in the EU.

history

Videoton was founded in 1938. The state-owned company has been developing, manufacturing and selling products under its own brand name in entertainment electronics, IT and military electronics since 1955. Thanks to video sound, the Hungarian People's Republic, along with the GDR, was one of the leading COMECON countries in the field of electronic computing due to the level of technology achieved. After the political change, the state-owned company had lost its markets. The current shareholders and a Hungarian bank acquired the company's assets in a public tender.

In 1992 Videoton was reorganized. Subcontracting activities, implementation of outsourcing and transfer projects for customers from the entertainment electronics, automation and automotive industries were introduced. Private shareholders took over the company completely in 1996 ( debt- financed takeover ). From 1995 to 1997 there was an acquisition in Hungary to expand capacity: some new production sites were opened. Videoton starts the first projects in the household appliance industry. From 1998 Videoton offers a complete solution including material procurement, parts production, final assembly and testing as well as services in financing and engineering. The first business in industrial electronics was started.

Videoton becomes a regional CEM company following the acquisition of DZU AD in Stara Sagora (Bulgaria). In 2002 Videoton was the largest independent EMS company in Central and Eastern Europe. Videoton began taking the first steps in 2005 to become an ODM provider in some market segments. The new manufacturing location in Ukraine was opened in 2009. In 2010 the company entered new markets such as eco-energy and air and filter technology. and Ventifilt ZRt. in Hungary. The 75th anniversary of Videoton, the largest Hungarian industrial group in locally private ownership, was celebrated in 2013. In 2014, the companies on Figyelő's top 200 list became Videoton Holding ZRt. In the same year it was awarded the Bisnode Reliability Award. The group achieved record sales for the fifth year in a row.
