Amphilóquio Guarisi Marques , Italian Anfilogino , also known as Filó (born December 26, 1905 in São Paulo , † June 8, 1974 ibid) was a Brazilian - Italian football player who was football world champion with Italy in 1934 .
Career
Guarisi, who was known in Brazil by his stage name Filó , began his career at Portuguesa , where his father Manuel Augusto Marques was the second president in the club's history. In 1925 he moved to Club Athletico Paulistano , where he played alongside the legendary Arthur Friedenreich . This team caused a sensation on a European tour when they beat France's selection 7-2. He won the state championship of São Paulo in 1926, 1927 and 1929 with Paulistano in the amateur league and the parallel championship of the Associação Paulista de Esportes Atléticos in 1929 and 1930 with SC Corinthians Paulista . In 1926 he was the top scorer with 16 goals.
On December 6, 1925, Guarisi made his debut in the Brazilian national soccer team and scored a goal in a 5-2 win against Paraguay . In the same year he took part in the Campeonato Sudamericano . Because of disputes between the Brazilian national associations, only players from Rio de Janeiro were nominated for the Football World Cup in Uruguay in 1930 , so that Guarisi could not take part in the World Cup.
In 1931 Filó, who had an Italian mother, moved to Lazio Rome . A year later he was naturalized and made his debut on February 14, 1932 in a 3-0 victory over Switzerland in the Italian national team . In 1934, Anfilogino Guarisi was appointed by national coach Vittorio Pozzo to the Azzurri squad for the 1934 World Cup , which Italy won at home. Guarisi was used in the 7-1 success in the round of 16 against the USA . He was also part of the victorious team in the European National Team Cup 1933–1935 .
Guarisi returned to Brazil and won the São Paulo championship in 1937 with Corinthians and then with the association of the Italian community Palestra Itália , now SE Palmeiras , where he ended his career in 1940.
