The Campeonato Sudamericano from 1925 was the ninth game of the South American continental football championship and took place for the third time in Argentina from November 29th to December 25th. Only three countries took part in this soccer tournament; this was the lowest number of participants so far. Uruguay was missing this year due to violent internal association disputes and Chile due to the poor performance at the last South American Championship in 1924.
As before, the championship was held in the league system (everyone against everyone). If there was a tie in first place, a playoff was planned. Due to the small number of participants, however, it was decided to play a double round this year. All games were played in Buenos Aires in the stadiums of Sportivo Barracas and CA Boca Juniors , which each held around 25,000 spectators.
Argentina won the South American championship for the second time in 1925.

Argentina was able to use the absence of the big rival from Uruguay and win the "Copa" for the second time. The decisive factor was a clear 4-1 win in the first duel with Brazil. In the second duel, however, the tournament victory was in danger again. At half-time the team were 2-1 against Brazil and a defeat would have meant a play-off. But top scorer Manuel Seoane released the Argentines with the equalizer and the tournament victory went to Argentina.

Brazil was able to convince at this "Copa". After a year of absence and no Uruguayan participation, they became the Argentines' great rivals. In the first comparison with the hosts still without a chance, the Brazilians almost overturned the final result in the second duel. In the end, there was a good second place. Especially in the duels with Paraguay, Brazil was able to clearly prove that they were number three in South American football at the time.

Paraguay disappointed across the board. In the last few tournaments it looked as if Paraguay would become a serious competitor for Uruguayans and Argentines and could oust Brazil as the third South American football power, after the four clear defeats it became clear that they had lost touch at this tournament. In particular, the two straight defeats against Brazil were very disappointing from a Paraguayan perspective.
