The Campeonato Sudamericano of 1945 was the 18th game of the South American continental football championship and took place from January 14th to February 28th for the fourth time in Chile. Although Paraguay and Peru were missing two teams, seven South American national teams took part again.
The tournament was played as before in the league system (everyone against everyone). If there was a tie in first place, a playoff was planned. All games were played in the Estadio Nacional in Santiago de Chile. With over one million viewers and 92 hits, the 1942 record in Uruguay was exceeded.
Argentina became South American champions for the seventh time.
