Mario Magnozzi (born March 20, 1902 in Livorno , † June 25, 1971 ibid) was an Italian football player and coach .

Career

Mario Magnozzi was born in Livorno. He played for the Associazione Sportiva Livorno Calcio until 1930. In 1919/20 he won the Torneo del Sud for the Italian Football Championship with Livorno . In the national final, they lost 3-2 to the winner of the Torneo del Nord Inter Milan . In the defeat Magnozzi scored twice. In the 1924/25 season Magnozzi was the top scorer of the Italian championship with 19 goals ahead of Rodolfo Ostromann from Milan (18 goals) . In 1930 he went to AC Milan , where he stayed until 1932 and then returned to Livorno. He played there until his retirement in 1936.

After taking part in the soccer tournament of the 1924 Summer Olympics in Paris in 1924 , Mario Magnozzi was appointed by Augusto Rangone to the Italian squad for who won the soccer competitions of the 1928 Summer Games in Amsterdam with Italy . Italy had to admit defeat to eventual winners Uruguay 1: 3 in the semifinals , but achieved the bronze medal with an 11: 3 victory in the game for third place against Egypt . Magnozzi scored three goals in this game on June 9, 1928 in the Olympic Stadium .

Mario Magnozzi worked as a trainer at AC Milan, US Lecce , AEK Athens and AS Livorno.

He died in his hometown of Livorno in 1971 at the age of 69.
