Sergio Brighenti
Sergio Brighenti (born September 23, 1932 in Modena ) is a former Italian football player , he played on the position of the center forward .
The club career
Brighenti began his career in his hometown at the then Serie B club FC Modena , where he only played one game in his first season in 1949/50. But already in the following season Brighenti played in the regular formation of Modena. After two good seasons, Brighenti moved to Serie A at Inter Milan for the 1952/53 season . Here he won the Scudetto in the first season and in the 1953/54 season the Milanese were able to defend the title with Brighenti. In total, he played three seasons here, but without being able to fully prevail against competitors like Benito Lorenzi . Nevertheless, he was characterized by his regular goals.
For the 1955/56 season Brighenti then moved to US Triestina , in the first season of the league could be celebrated. However Triestina rose in the following season in the Serie B from. Therefore Brighenti switched to Padova Calcio , who were then trained by Nereo Rocco . Rocco's tactics, the catenaccio , were perfectly tailored to counter-attacker Brighenti. Therefore Padova classified in the season 1957/58 in the excellent third place. In the following season 1958/59 they finished seventh and 1959/60 they finished fifth at the end of the season.
For the 1960/61 season Brighenti moved to Sampdoria Genoa . Here he was in his first season with a total of 27 goals top scorer in the Serie A. Brighenti played two more seasons in Genoa, but did not score as many goals as in the 1960/61 season. Returned to the 1963-64 season Brighenti to his old club again FC Modena back who played in the Serie A had risen. Brighenti scored 10 goals for Modena, but the club was relegated to Serie B , whereupon Brighenti moved to AC Torino . Here he only played one game before Brighenti let his successful career end at the end of the 1964/65 season.

The national player
During his time at Inter, Brighenti made the jump to the U-21 national team and shortly afterwards also to the A national team of Italy . On May 6, 1959, Brighenti, who was then playing for Padova Calcio , scored a goal for the current 1: 2 in the game against Bobby Charlton's England at the time-honored Wembley Stadium .
