Heinrich Behrmann

Heinrich Behrmann (born April 5, 1770 in Garstedt near Quickborn ; † October 23, 1836 ; different year of birth 1769, different year of death in 183 8) was a German-Danish pedagogue, historian and private scholar.

Life

Heinrich Behrmann was the son of the businessman Jochim Behrmann (1733–1781) and his wife Catharina Magdalene Beecken (1740–1803).

He attended the Christianeum high school in Altona and then studied theology for three years in Jena . In 1802 he became a teacher at the educational institute of Christoph Johann Rudolph Christiani in Vesterbroe near Copenhagen . In 1806 he became adjunct and in 1810 senior teacher at the cathedral school in Roskilde with the subjects history and German.

After he became archivist at the Schleswig-Holsteinisch-Lauenburg chancellery in Copenhagen in 1814 , he received the title of chancellery.

On November 10, 1829 he left his post at his own request and became a private scholar, initially in Copenhagen, later in Roskilde and Altona. He mainly dealt with Danish history and published a few writings on it; for these publications he also made articles in the New Danish Magazine and in the Archives for State and Church History.

He was married to Katharina, geb. Munch. They had a son together:

  • Henrik Christian Behrmann (born March 25, 1806 in Copenhagen; † November 11, 1850 in Gottorf hospital during the Schleswig-Holstein uprising ), Danish lawyer, officer and historian.
