Heiner Georgsdorf

Heiner Georgsdorf (* 1939 in Leitring ( Styria )) is a German art historian , art didactic and curator .

Training and teaching

Heiner Georgssdorf grew up in Kassel . From 1959 to 1963 he studied art didactics with Arnold Bode at the Werkkunstschule Kassel. At documenta II he was part of the supervisory staff. He experienced documenta III in 1964 as an assistant to Herbert von Buttlar . From 1973 to 2005 he taught art didactics at the Kunsthochschule Kassel .

Kassel Art Association

From 1983 to 1996 he was the curating chairman of the Kasseler Kunstverein . He curated a. a. Exhibitions with local artists like Kurt Bunge , Bernhard Delsing , Felix Koller , Walter Nikusch , Ludwig Uloth , Horst Brunsiek , Elvira Bach , the group exhibition La petite parade with international artists such as Josef Albers , Horst Antes , Julius Bissier , Christo , Jim Dine , Lucio Fontana , Sam Francis , Konrad Klapheck , Yves Klein , Willem de Kooning , Roy Lichtenstein , Kenneth Noland , Claes Oldenburg , AR Penck , Otto Piene , Sigmar Polke , Jackson Pollock , Robert Rauschenberg , Mark Rothko , Frank Stella , Günther Uecker , Victor Vasarely , Andy Warhol , Tom Wesselmann , Wols u. a., the group exhibition Arte Povera-10 Italians in the Kasseler Kunstverein with Alighiero Boetti , Jannis Kounellis , Mario Merz , Giulio Paolini , Giuseppe Penone and Michelangelo Pistoletto . Georgsdorf also organized solo exhibitions by Bruce McLean , Luciano Castelli , the triple exhibition by Stephan Balkenhol and Ludger Gerdes and the solo exhibitions by Eckhard Karnauke , Dieter Rudolph , Hartmut Böhm , Katharina Sieverding , Hans Poelzig , Felix Droese , Holger Bunk , Rob Scholte and Carl Döbel , Helmut Middendorf , Heiner Blum , Hans Hillmann and Ferdinand Büttgen as well as the double exhibition by Guillaume Bijl and Kazuo Katase .

In 1990 he showed Hilmar Liptow , Urs Lüthi , Alf Schuler and he exhibited Ilya Kabakows for the first time in Germany. Joseph Delleg , Joe Jones , Wolfgang Hainke , Ika Hubs and Thomas Schütte were curated by Georgsdorf in 1991. In 1992 he exhibited Peter Ackermann , Donald Judd and Gunter Demnig in the Kassel estate building . In 1993 he organized the move of the Kassel Art Association to the Museum Fridericianum .

He is the chairman of the board of trustees of the Kassel Arnold Bode Prize .

Heiner Georgsdorf lives in Frankfurt am Main .
