Dave Holland (born April 5, 1948 in Wolverhampton , Staffordshire , † January 16, 2018 in Lugo , Spain ) was a British drummer . He became known through his work at Trapeze and Judas Priest .

biography

David Holland grew up in Staffordshire. His career as a drummer began in 1965 with Pinkerton's Colors , one of the first British bands to use an autoharp . With them he played three singles . When the group broke up, he joined Finders Keepers . There he met Mel Galley and Glenn Hughes , with whom he founded Trapeze in 1969.

In 1979 he left this band and joined Judas Priest. The first album he was involved in is the 1980 album British Steel . He was a permanent member of the Judas Priest until 1988, when he was replaced by Scott Travis . Together with Mel Galley and Geoff Downes , he reformed Trapeze for a short time in 1991.

In 2004, Dave Holland was charged with sexual abuse after harassing a student who was taking drum lessons with him. During the trial, he confessed to being bisexual . He served an eight-year prison sentence and was released in June 2012 , according to Alan Atkins .
