Angel of Retribution ( English for: " Angel of Retribution ") is the 15th studio album by the British heavy metal band Judas Priest . The album was released on March 1, 2005 as CD , DualDisc and in a version with CD and DVD . As a record , the album was first released in 2010 by the record label Back on Black. The DVD included with some editions of the album or the DVD page of the DualDisc edition contains a documentary on the Reunited tour from 2004 and seven live recorded songs from the band's earlier years, including the Joan Baez cover Diamonds & Rust .

Emergence

It is the first album after the return of singer Rob Halford to the band, the two previous albums Jugulator and Demolition were sung by Tim Owens .

Was produced Angel of Retribution by Roy Z and Tom Allom , for the cover image recorded Mark Wilkinson responsible, whose work previously, among others, all Judas Priest albums since Ram It Down (1988) and Glenn Tipton's solo album Baptizm of Fire ed.

reception

While James Christopher Monger of Allmusic described the band's performance as "half-hearted" and the music on Angel of Retribution as "heavy metal according to the rules", the album received nine out of ten points and was among the ten best in the German music magazine Rock Hard Listed Albums of the Month. In his review of Angel of Retribution, Götz Kühnemund referred several times to parallels to the last Judas Priest album before Rob Halford's departure, Painkiller , and stated that the band had “done its job”.

The album reached number 13 on the Billboard 200 and number 5 on the German album charts.
