Screaming for Vengeance (English for: " Scream for revenge ") is the eighth studio album by the British heavy metal band Judas Priest . The album was released on July 17, 1982 on Columbia Records .

For Screaming for Vengeance , the band and Tom Allom returned to Ibiza Sound Studios on the Spanish island of Ibiza . The record was mixed at Beejay Recording Studios and Bayshore Recording Studios in Coconut Grove , Miami , Florida . A remastered CD was released in 2001. In October 2012, on the occasion of the thirtieth anniversary of the album, an anniversary edition was released, which in addition to the tracks already on the first version of the CD and the bonus tracks Prisoner of Your Eyes and Devil's contained on the 2001 version Child contained four other live recorded pieces in a live version. The CD also included a DVD with a complete concert that the band had given at the second US festival in 1983 .

On the back of the album cover you can read: From an unknown land and through distant skies came a winged warrior. Nothing remained sacred, no one was safe from the Hellion as it uttered its battle cry ... Screaming for Vengeance. The Hellion is the metallic bird on the album cover.

Allmusic's Steve Huey wrote that the album was the strongest of the commercially successful period in the early 1980s. He awarded 4 out of 5 stars.

The album peaked at number 17 on the Billboard 200 . It was already awarded platinum in 1983 and double platinum after its re-release in 2001.
