Haidar Abu Bakr al-Attas
Haidar Abu Bakr al-Attas ( Arabic حيدر أبو بكرالعطاس, DMG Ḥaydar Abū Bakr al-ʿAṭṭās ; * April 5, 1939 in El-Huraidha ( Hadramaut Governorate , South Yemen ) was Prime Minister of South Yemen from 1971 to 1986 and President from 1986 to 1990. After the reunification of the two Yemeni states in 1990, al-Attas was the new state's first prime minister until 1994.
In 1994 al-Attas was Prime Minister of the Democratic Republic of Yemen, which existed for only a few weeks .
