The Democratic Republic of Yemen ( Arabic جمهورية اليمن الديمقراطية, DMG Ǧumhūrīyat al-Yaman ad-Dīmuqrāṭīya ), also known as South Yemen , was a short-lived, internationally unrecognized state that emerged during the Yemeni civil war of 1994.
history
The Democratic Republic of Yemen declared itself independent on May 21, 1994 under the rule of the Yemeni Socialist Party . They claimed the area that was created in 1990 by the reunification of North and South Yemen. The state dissolved on July 7, 1994 after the cities of al-Mukalla and Aden had been recaptured by the Yemeni army .
