Horst Amann (soccer player)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Horst Amann (born April 5, 1934 ) is a former German soccer player. The player, who was mostly used as an outside runner in the World Cup system at the time, made 254 league appearances for Phönix Ludwigshafen from 1952 to 1962 in the old, first-class Southwest soccer league and scored 26 goals. On September 25, 1955 he was used by the DFB in the international match of the B national team in Ljubljana against Yugoslavia.

career

Horst Amann went through the youth department of the Phönix, based in the south of Ludwigshafen, and was immediately taken over to the league team for the 1952/53 round. The blue-whites were the "city club" and were in competition with TuRa Ludwigshafen from the north of the city. At the side of the veterans Helmut Oster (1947–62: 319 games), Fritz glasses (1946–61: 286 games) and Werner Pohl (1952–62: 258 games), the home grown quickly developed into a reliable regular player. In the 1953/54 season he experienced the training work of player-coach Georg Gawliczek , then the work of Günter Hentschke , Richard Ullrich , Hans Wendlandt and Rudolf de la Vigne . The best placements in the Oberliga Südwest he achieved with "the Fänix" in the rounds of 1956/57, 1957/58 and 1959/60, when fourth place could be achieved.

When in the 1955/56 season the first four round games against Borussia Neunkirchen (0: 1), Saar 05 Saarbrücken (2: 0), Eintracht Kreuznach (2: 3) and VfR Frankenthal (0: 0) from August 28 to 18 September were held, it was surprisingly nominated by national coach Sepp Herberger for the double country match on September 29, 1955 against Yugoslavia. The A international match was played in Belgrade and the match between the B national teams in Ljubljana. Both German teams lost their international match. The A-Elf with the defensive around Fritz Herkenrath , Karl Schmidt , Jupp Posipal , Horst Eckel , Werner Liebrich and Josef Röhrig with 1: 3 goals and the B-Elf men with the highest defeat in the history of this selection, with 0: 8 Gates. The German defensive formation with goalkeeper Horst Schnoor (Hamburger SV), the defender couple Helmut Sattler (Kickers Offenbach) and Franz Klepacz (Hamburger SV), as well as the runner row with Werner Lang (Bremerhaven 93), Herbert Schäfer (Sportfreunde Siegen) and Amann von Phönix Ludwigshafen was overtaxed against the ball art and offensive power of the Balkan footballers. Since the offensive series with Ernst-Günter Habig (Union Cologne), Klaus Stürmer (Hamburger SV), Uwe Seeler (Hamburger SV), Willi Schröder (Werder Bremen) and Johann Auernhammer (1860 Munich) did not come into the game, at least they did a surprisingly high defeat in the amount.

At Phönix, this removal on the international stage did not upset the outsider's concept. Since three other team- mates , Walter Dächert , Gerhard Faller and Heinz Kempf, also played in the DFB U23 junior team, the sporting level of Phoenix in the south-west led to the top ranks from 1957 to 1960. From the round of 1959/60, Ludwigshafener SC , a third club in the southwest league was added. When Amann and colleagues with Phönix surprisingly could not prevent relegation in the 1961/62 season, a fourth club from the chemical city on the Rhine was even active in the league with the BSC Oppau .

In the second league south-west 1962/63, Phoenix won the championship in the last year of the old league division with the upper leagues and as a substructure, the second league, and was thus qualified for the newly installed regional football league south-west from 1963/64 . In the debut season, Phoenix finished ninth and Amann had played 29 games with four goals. After the merger of Phönix with Tura to form Südwest Ludwigshafen, the veteran was again on the ball in the second regional league season in 1964/65. Südwest took fifth place and Amann had made his contribution in 24 missions with three goals. He played his last competitive game for Southwest on May 9, 1965 in the 4-0 home defeat against Eintracht Trier.
