Crispian St. Peters (actually Robin Peter Smith , born April 5, 1939 in Swanley , County Kent , † June 8, 2010 ibid) was an English singer .
biography
Smith gained his first experience as a singer in various youth groups. There he also learned to play the guitar . The tall, skinny young man initially wanted to become a session guitarist, but then tried it as a singer. In the mid-1960s he got a record deal under the stage name Crispian St. Peters , but initially there was no success.
It wasn't until the beginning of 1966 that You Were on My Mind , the original of which was made by Ian & Sylvia in 1964, entered the English, and later also the German and American charts. The follow-up hit, The Pied Piper , was also a cover version and was able to seamlessly build on the success of its predecessor. The original song came from the group The Changin 'Times ( Artie Kornfeld and Steve Duboff). The third hit single, Changes , originally released by Gordon Lightfoot in 1966 , received significantly less attention and was the singer's final hit.
St. Peters was married from 1969 to 1974. He had a son and a daughter.
In 1995, at the age of 55, he suffered a stroke. In 2001 he retired as a musician. St. Peters died on June 8th, 2010 after a long illness.
