Maria Arndts

Maria Arndts , née Maria Vespermann , married Maria Görres , (born April 5, 1823 in Munich , † May 23, 1882 there ) was a German writer . She also wrote under the pseudonym Carl Pauss .

Life

Maria Arndts was born in Munich as the daughter of the court actor Wilhelm Vespermann and the famous singer Klara Metzger-Vespermann . Already in childhood she showed great musical talent, so that Maria Arndts appeared in public concerts at the age of twelve. She also wrote occasional poems and dramas, which were initially only circulated in family circles.

Maria Arndts married the writer Guido Görres in 1844 , with whom she had three daughters. Görres died in 1852. In 1860 she married a second time to Carl Ludwig Arndts in Vienna, the widower of her good friend Bertha Arndts . Carl Ludwig Arndts, who was ennobled for his life's work in 1871, died in 1878. Maria Arndts lived as a widow in Munich until her death.

Maria Arndts wrote novels and dramas and even a comedy with Mozart as the matchmaker . She was also active as a composer (including a cycle of songs from Friedrich Wilhelm Weber's epic Dreizehnlinden ) and painter.
