Friedrich Schwendimann

Friedrich Georg Schwendimann (born April 5, 1867 in Solothurn ; † December 27, 1947 there ) was a Roman Catholic clergyman and church historian.

Life

Friedrich Georg Schwendimann was the son of the printer Benedikt Schwendimann and his wife Theresia, born. Utlett.

He attended the Solothurn grammar school and then from 1886 the Collegium Germanicum et Hungaricum in Rome . From 1887 to 1889 he studied at the University of Würzburg , the University of Innsbruck and the University of Tübingen . In 1890 he came to the seminary in Solothurn and was ordained a priest in 1891 .

In 1891 he became vicar in Kriegstetten and was pastor in Deitingen from 1892 to 1906 . From 1906 to 1925 he was the parish priest in Solothurn, in 1908 he was appointed canon and in 1924 provost of St. Ursus Cathedral .

From 1927 to 1935 he was an official of the diocese of Basel .

Act

It was thanks to Friedrich Georg Schwendimann that the St. Ursen Cathedral in Solothurn was renovated, and that he made sure that its legal relationships were clarified; this was awarded by a federal court decision to the Roman Catholic parish of Solothurn.
