Louis Chollet

Louis Chollet (born April 5, 1815 in Paris , † March 21, 1851 there ) was a French composer and organist.

Chollet was admitted to the piano class of Pierre Zimmermann at the Conservatoire de Paris at the age of ten in 1826 and received first prize in the piano class in 1828. He also completed his training as an organist with François Benoist in 1838 with a first prize. In 1837 he received the first Second Grand Prix de Rome .

In 1834, Chollet succeeded Jean-Nicolas Marrigues on the Clicquot organ in the Saint-Thomas d'Aquin church in the seventh arrondissement of Paris. He held the position until his death in 1851. He was succeeded by Pierre-Edmond Hocmelle .

Chollet composed piano, choral and orchestral works.
