François-Henri Clicquot
François-Henri Clicquot (* 1732 in Paris ; † May 24, 1790 there ) was a French organ builder .
Life
Together with his grandfather Robert Clicquot , his father Louis-Alexandre Clicquot and his uncle Jean-Baptiste Cliquot, Cliquot forms an organ builder dynasty which - alongside the organ builder family Thierry ( Alexandre and François Thierry ) - has made great contributions to the perfection of the classical French organ. Like his relatives, he carried the title of royal organ builder.
He worked with his father until 1751 and was responsible for completing the organ at Saint-Roch . After his death in 1760 he took over the management of the company, which he ran together with his brother-in-law Adrien Lépine until 1770 . Pierre Dallery has been part of his staff since 1764 . From his school u. a. the organ builders Simon Miocque and Christian Nyssen .
Clicquot's new buildings in Paris included the organs of St-Germain-l'Auxerrois (Paris) , Saint-Thomas-d'Aquin and Saint-Sulpice (which was later restored by Aristide Cavaillé-Coll ), as well as the organs of the abbeys of Souvigny and Poitiers .
He also restored the organs of Saint-Gervais in Paris , on which several generations of the Couperin family had worked as organists, the organs of St-Étienne-du-Mont , Saint-Victor , St-Nicolas-des-Champs and St- Nicolas-du-Chardonnet and the organs of Notre-Dame de Paris and Nantes Cathedral .
Cliquot corresponded with the German organ builder Karl Joseph Riepp and wrote the organ building school Théorie, Pratique de la facture de l'orgue . The company was continued by his son Claude François Clicquot (1762-1802).
