Adela Wilgocka

Adela Comte-Wilgocka (born November 18, 1875 in Warsaw , † April 5, 1960 there ) was a Polish singer (soprano) and singing teacher.

Wilgocka studied singing in Warsaw and continued her training in Paris with Giovanni Sbriglia and Jean de Reszke . In 1897 she made her debut in Warsaw as Zuzia in Stanisław Moniuszko's opera Verbum nobile . In 1898 she appeared at the Teatr Wielki as Zofia in the opera Halka . She then gave up her opera career and was active as a concert singer. In addition to opera arias, cantatas and oratorios, she sang the soprano parts in Beethoven's Ninth Symphony and Gioachino Rossini's Stabat Mater . After 1933 she devoted herself entirely to her work as a singing teacher.
