Vincenc Mašek

Vincenc Václav Mašek (born April 5, 1755 in Zwikowetz , † November 15, 1831 in Prague ) was a Bohemian composer .

Life

Mašek studied with Josef Seger and František Xaver Dušek and lived for some time as a traveling concert pianist. He then became opera conductor and in 1794 organist in Prague. He also ran a music shop from 1802.

Mašek composed two Czech operas , symphonies , piano concertos , chamber music works, masses , proprien , cantatas , piano sonatas, works for the glass harmonica and songs .

His brother Pavel Mašek and his sons Albín and Gašpar Mašek were also composers.
