Miguelito García

Miguelito García Morales (born July 5, 1902 in Havana , † April 5, 1993 ) was a Cuban singer.

García began his musical career in 1921 as a singer in the Son group Los 21 and later in the same year in the group Crema de Viè . In 1923 he founded a quartet with Justa García , Julio Antonio Font and Alberto Montalvo . In 1925 he formed a duo with the singer, composer and guitarist María Teresa Vera . The following year he founded the Sexteto Occidente with her and Ignacio Piñeiro , which made recordings in the USA.

After his return he founded a quartet of vocalists and guitarists with Pablo Quevedo , Vitalio Mata and Rafael Enrizo . In 1928 he became a solo singer and keyboardist in the Septeto Habanero , which starred in the US film Hell Harbor (with Lupe Vélez , directed by Henry King ). García played the botija there and sang the songs Canción del amor del Caribe , Noche Azul by Ernesto Lecuona and Son María Teresa .

In the 1930s García was a member of the orchestras of Ernesto Muñoz , Andrés Laferté , Neno González and Antonio Arcaño's group Arcaño y sus Maravillas . In 1937 he became a member of Ramón González 'jazz band Havana-Casino , with whom he appeared on the radio station Autran . From 1939 he performed for eighteen years with the Luis Azcárates Orchestra in the Club Unión de Panamá , later he led his own orchestra there. In 1957 he returned to Cuba. There he was a member of the Conjunto Típico de Sones and later the Tanda de Guaracheros .
