Ricardo Manuel Arias Espinoza
Ricardo Manuel Arias Espinoza (born April 5, 1912 in Washington, DC , † March 15, 1993 in Panama City ) was the 29th President of Panama .
Arias Espinoza first studied at the Colegio de La Salle in Bogotá , Colombia , then moved to the Shenandoah Valley Academy in Virginia . He graduated from Georgetown University and the Catholic University of Chile . From 1952 to 1955 he was the second vice president of the country and from 1955 until his election as president he was foreign minister. He took over the office of President on March 29, 1955 as the successor to the deposed José Ramón Guizado Valdés and led it for the regular term of the assassinated President José Antonio Remón Cantera until October 1, 1956. During his tenure he tried the country in the sense of Remón to bring it out of the depression. He was succeeded by Ernesto de la Guardia Navarro . Arias then became his country's ambassador to the United Nations .
