Daniel Chanis Pinzón

Daniel Chanis Pinzón (born November 20, 1892 in Panama City , † January 2, 1961 ) was the 24th President of Panama .

Pinzón studied medicine at the University of Edinburgh , Scotland , where he graduated in 1917. His career as a doctor was successful in both Scotland and Panama and published numerous medical works during this time. Due to his political engagement, his political career was also a success. Soon he became State Secretary of the Treasury, then Panamanian Consul General in Liverpool and London and in 1948 Vice President of his country. On July 28, 1949 he took over the office of President as successor to Domingo Díaz Arosemena and remained in office until November 20, 1949. His successor was the former President Arnulfo Arias .
